Linking to the BCO Web site

The more visitors that you send to our site, the more money you could make through referred sales commissions. Your traffic is our traffic and we want to help increase the number of visitors that you send to our Web site.

The following can be used to link traffic to our Web site:

We have included some special linking tips to help increase the number of your customer referrals.

  Linking Through Your Web Site

Back to Top

If you have a Web site, you are open to a number of advertising possibilities. You can use text links, banners, search boxes, feature articles, our logo, or any other creative method.

Linking to a Graphic

You will find logo and banner graphics in our banner section. The code for a graphic link is shown below.

<A HREF="http://www.bookcloseouts.com/default.asp?rid=your_referral_id">
<IMG SRC="graphicfilename.gif" BORDER="0" alt="BookCloseouts.com – Books at Blowout Prices" >
</A>

Linking to Specific Books

To link to a specific book on our site, you must include the book’s ISBN (an ISBN is the unique code used for identifying specific books).

  1. search for the book you want to link to
  2. write down or copy the ISBN number
  3. copy the link below and replace the ISBN number
  4. type in your referral ID

http://www.bookcloseouts.com/bc/display.book.asp?ISBN=0000000000&rid=your_referral_id

You can attach this link to the graphic of the actual book (right click the book image and save) or to a text link. Just replace the above link in the graphic or text link code.

If you choose to link to a particular book, it will be your responsibility to check back periodically to ensure that the book is not sold out.

Linking in Text

Text is a good choice for linking keywords (such as a book subject or title) within an article to our Web site. Text links take up less room and load quicker than graphic links or search boxes.

<A HREF="http://www.bookcloseouts.com/default.asp?rid=your_referral_id" target="_blank">

Using E-mail

Back to Top

Most e-mail programs allow you to create what is commonly called an "e-mail signature". Your signature will appear at the end of every e-mail that you send out. It might include your name, job title, phone contact, motto and/or a favorite saying. By adding a link to your e-mail signature you can direct traffic to our site.

To create an e-mail signature:

  1. open your e-mail program
  2. click help
  3. choose index
  4. type in the word "sign"
  5. follow the instructions of your e-mail program.

To add our link to your e-mail signature:

Avoid Spamming

Adding a link in your correspondence is not spamming. However, if you compose your letter as an advertisement and send it to somebody who did not request it, or who does not welcome e-mail from you, then you are spamming and could be penalized.

Special Linking Tips

Back to Top

Too many links on a Web page can be overwhelming for visitors, especially when it contains row after row of animated banners. Note the following methods for providing visitors with a more friendly shopping experience:

  1. Write a small, informative paragraph for each link.
  2. Leave lots of white space when organizing your images. Flush left one section, center the next, and flush right the third. Your page will appear more organized and will allow the visitor's eye to rest. Avoid this technique with large paragraphs of text.
  3. If you find your visitors are clicking on a certain link more than others, draw attention to it. Place it at the top of the page to make it stand out. You could make more money in referrals.
  4. Use the information provided in our affiliate E-zine.
  5. If you are linking through newsletters and e-mail, place the link on a line of it's own. Ensure that the link does not wrap to a second line.
  6. Use text links in paragraphs. They are clean and easy to use. Don't highlight "go here" as the link; instead link the key word in the text.
