Overview:
Encounters with God: 1, 2, 3 John and Jude examines and explains four important messages. The first letter of John offers three tests of authentic faith: obedience to God's law, love for God and His people, and a correct belief concerning Jesus Christ. The second epistle speaks against false teaching and the importance of proclaiming the truth. John's third letter encourages hospitality to traveling missionaries, and promotes enduring fellowship among genuine believers as a witness to the world. The epistle of Jude motivates the early church to fight for truth and the right doctrines. Jude also presents a message of mercy, peace, love and god's trustworthiness, while encouraging believers to hold to their "most holy faith." Each study session offers insights and discussion starters, including warnings to the church against heresy and divisive influences. In each lesson, the Blackabys include: Bible Focus; Application for Today; Supplementary Scriptures to Consider; Introspection and Implications; Communicating the Good News; Small Group Leader Notes.
